This sculpture,
Inner Compulsion by Peter Randall Page, are at the entrance to the
Wellcome Trust Millennium Building, adjacent to
Wakehurst Place, which aims to house seeds from 10% of the world's flora by 2009 in their seed bank.
These beautiful gardens and the house, at Ardingly in West Sussex, are owned by the National Trust and funded, administered and maintained by the
Royal Botanic Gardens at Kew. I was last there in the spring and the magnolias were magnificent. Here are some more pictures for your edification:
Enjoy.

Lovely pictures Chris! I am a member of the National Trust, but I really don't make enough use out of my membership (and I've lost my card!)
My first Photo Hunt is up!
Those are superb pictures! I adore the Inner Compusion sculpture. I feel a compulsion to run my hands over it!
We really must start visiting places again. We used to visit places quite frequently but have lapsed recently.
Thanks a. and Clare.
Every time I go to a National Trust place I promise myself that I'll use my membership more frequently, then time passes and I find I've paid far more in membership fees than if I'd just paid entrance charges. Although I've done quite well this year, so far. And it's for a good cause.
Beautiful. I would LOVE to visit a Botanic garden sometime. I have wanted to for awhile. Thank you for sharing your beautiful shots.
Is the inner compulsion that of the artist? I love them. I could try to follow the lines in each ball for half a day, seeing if each one is like the other. Excellent shot.
Beautiful photos Chris, the sculpture is wonderful but I love all the other pics too.
Thank you, everyone. Yes the sculptures were very tactile and there was a very strong urge to touch them and follow the lines with your fingers (which, I noticed, most people seemed to do).
Beautiful pics, Chris. I do like the sculpture - I would like to feel its texture.
Beautiful house and that row of sculpture is wonderful!
Don't let Picasso near the sculpture Chris ;0)
For sheer joy, visit Bedgebury Pinetum, near Tunbridge Wells.
Unique trees, a superb place to walk and a hugely rewarding experience all round - especially for kids!

Will do, Scroblene - love that part of Kent and visit fairly often.
Thanks for the link.
What is this Photo Hunt thing then? Is it something else I can waste my working hours on?
BTW, Mum, your blogger profile photo has disappeared...
Yeah, Pete, there's a list of subjects for each week and you have to publish an appropriate photo. The link is:

I know my pictures disappeared. Don't know why and can't, at present, be arsed to replace it.
I missed this one last week, sorry. You always take good photos. I like the 3 large balls,... I love art work of almost any kind.
